Ballintoy Harbour is absolutely breathtaking! Nestled along the stunning Causeway Coast, this picturesque harbour offers some of the most dramatic coastal views you can imagine. The rugged cliffs and crystal-clear waters make it a perfect spot for photography and simply soaking in the beauty of nature.
We are from N Ireland and had not visited here for years.
Parking is restricted and the road down is very narrow in places so bear in mind if you are driving a large vehicle or on busy days.
The harbour is a great place for a leisurely stroll, and you can often see fishermen bringing in their catch or boats coming and going. The nearby beach is perfect for a picnic or just relaxing while listening to the waves.
If you're a fan of the outdoors, this spot is a must-visit! It’s also a great starting point for exploring the nearby Giant's Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. I highly recommend visiting at sunset for a truly magical experience.
Also most will recognise from the Games of Thrones so really special.

Picturesque harbour perfect for wondering about or swimming. Coming down from a winding road, you get a view of Sheep Island in the distance. The convoluted geography makes it unique from other harbours I've been to along the Causeway coastal route. There's also a moderately challenging hiking route that leads you to Giant's Causeway which is popular for hiking, trail running and mountain biking. The harbour's physical attractiveness with its caves has made it as one of the locations where scenes from Game of Thrones were shot. On Weekends, it's best to come early as parking is limited. Carpark is free. Public toilets available.

I am part of a motorcycle group called biking adventures and routes Northern Ireland, and this is a hidden gem, very tranquil and one of the best places to visit along the Antrim coast.
There is a steep winding road down to the bottom but a massive well kept car park that is worth the ride down to it.
Great places to walk along the coast on the ulster way footpaths. A large cave, steep mountains all around and the cutest harbour that I have seen in years.
It is a very busy place with being part of the game of thrones film set but a great place to take some time and walk along the Sandy inlet and take a few pictures.

Its not until recently that we actually discovered theres something of a hidden beach at Balintoy. We normally just drove down the hill into the car park and walked left along the shore, but it turns out theres a beautiful little cove halfway down the hill which you will find by taking a path that looks as if it belongs to someones house (its doesnt, but there is a house there). I took these pictures very early one morning, having left Belfast about 430am. I visited the Dark Hedges first (the only way to get a photograph without people in it) and watched a stunning sunrise, all by myself. Brilliant.

A gorgeous small area on the northern shores of Ireland. We have heard of this place through game of thrones and just wanted to come by to take a look. It definitely has some since scenery but I can see and agree with the locals about some of the game of thrones hype maybe tarnishing that slightly. On one hand I wouldn't know to look here but on the other hand I respect the idea we should visit sparingly and respectfully.
Very narrow roads here to get down to the shore so be wary of this.
A great place to visit. Thank you Ballintoy locals for sharing.
