Owned by the National Trust. Vehicles allowed on to the beach. Free to National Trust members, charges apply otherwise. Tractor sometimes available to recover stuck vehicles, not sure if there's a charge as I've never been stuck. Very well run & looked after. Has to be one of the best beaches in Northern Ireland, if not the UK. Clean, wide, long stretch of golden sands. Beautiful views no matter what the weather. Excellent for walking, on the beach or through the dunes to the river Bann. Scenery is spectacular either side or through the dunes. Good for swimming, surfing, body boarding (depending on the weather conditions). Further down the beach there is a section for jet skis etc. Dog friendly, section further along the beach for off lead gallops. Great restaurant/bar, Harry's Shack, at the start of the beach with indoor & outdoor seating available. Beach can be exceptionally busy on sunny days. Well...

A really lovely part of the country. One of the most child friendly beaches you could get to. You can literally drive on to the beach. On a good summer's day, the views are stunning. Pack a good picnic and one can easily spend hours on the beach. I have visited this place three times now. Considering the post COVID world, the really long beach offers plenty of room for a lot of people. The water is shallow and safe enough for toddlers too. The pictures I taken are from multiple years one of them from 2012. It was and still remains a very beautiful piece to visit.

There is a £4 charge to get vehicles on to the beach. But that is waived if you are a national...

A beautiful, clean, long expanse of beach facing the Atlantic Ocean. The beach and the dunes are managed by the National Trust and offer two entirely different experiences. The sandy beach is generally easy to walk upon whilst the dunes are more difficult due to their height. The dunes are also not the easiest to navigate. Also so be aware of the cows that roam in amongst the sand dunes. Beach parking is available for a fee at the eastern end of the beach, or you can park for free in the town. We've seen so interesting birds here too, eg, Sanderlings. Overall, I highly recommend visiting here if you visit Northern Ireland's...

According to Google it’s nearly 2 miles from south end to the pier at the mouth of river Bann. Easy walk anytime apart from high tide when you have to walk closer to dunes in soft sand. Pity there isnt a boarded walk on the dunes just a half overgrown with high grass tractor tracks. Lovely spot for a swim with delightful surf
