Definitely one of my favourite places to walk. A short walk or a long one - a stroll or a hike -rejuvination or exploration - you find it all at Redburn! I prefer the walk from the carpark - lay-by at the Old Holywood Road - the steep start definitely warms you up. As you proceed further, forest opens and the view starts to captivate your attention. From here you may prefer to walk the less frequent 'in-forest' path - my dogs love all the smells, and there is a better protection from possible rain - you may choose hiking shoes after wett days - it will be muddy unless dry weather on previous days. This time of year - bluebell carpets are spreading widely - rightly enough to call it a fairy walk - reminding you that you are living on beautiful planet! The walk from the carpark close to to the Care Home at Old Holywood Road is more gentile for your lounges (unless you take the right hand side path - a killer challenge for your lungs!) The walk from Holywood cemetery - following the road leading right that turns into a lane will lead you to the Men's shed (definitely a fairy tale playground for little ones!) The walk from Jackson's Road is an option for the most leisure stroll - heading straight on the wide gravel path, and following the turn right will keep you on the lower part of the loop. At the junction - right - getting up to steeper part of the loop - left - getting down to Men's shed. You can easily walk the loop under an hour but if you don't know your way around, you can loose the bearings and your walk may take much longer. Anytime, from any starting point, with somebody or alone - this park will always share its magic! It is indeed magical! ( afternoons are in general busier especially...

The steep ascent skywards rewards the hardy adventurer with commanding views of the surrounding lands, Holywood, Belfast and across the Lough where proud sailing ships once traversed the waves. Marvel at the miracle of flight as great metal birds take off and begin their journey to unknown far flung continents with promises of exotic creatures, sights and perfumes. The bear pit is where Lord Dufferin kept his ferocious bear when he was not racing hot air balloons, while poor downtrodden folk toiled for long hours in the linen mills then scurried back to their two up two down hovels. Once there was an enchanted pond near where the old peoples home is now. Wish it was still there, this review might have been 5 stars in that case. Bringing an apple or a chomp bar is highly recommended to satiate the hunger ye shall build in...

this place was the worst experience of my entire life. never have I wanted to leave somewhere more. this place was horrible, steep, humid, confusing, rocky and just plain awful! my friends and I got lost here for over 2 hours when we intended to be there for half an hour at most! there are no clear signs directing you anywhere, the hills are unbelievably steep and my friend even fell. we got completely lost and I honestly thought we were never getting out. the only reason I am here to tell the tale is because we had to make jokes while walking, otherwise we would have died. I strongly recommend not visiting here, as you may as well plan to live here because you will never get out. we hated red burn country park with a passion!!!! my advice - try gosford or...

This is a great country park quite near to Belfast with excellent views from some of its high points. However to access these views you'll have to tackle some surprisingly steep paths as the park is on the side of the hill and parking is all down at the bottom. Still it's worth the effort as the trails are both attractive and quiet as they meander through the trees. It's also not too muddy and the paths are in good condition if you're out for a run or a walk. All in all Redburn Country Park hits the spot.

A nice place to spend your day. About five miles away from the Belfast city and you can take a bus or a train to Hollywood and from the bus stop its about 30 minutes walk to the park. You can walk around the park but it is muddy and slippery in some places during rainy days. Get ready for a small hike if you are going. You can see a nice scenery of Belfast harbor and the Holywood beach while you are walking in the park. Not much crowded.
