Not worth specifically taking a detour for, but it is right beside Daft Eddy's which is nice for a pit stop. There are lovely views over the Lough and some niche walks.
Sketrick Castle is a towerhouse type monument approached by a causeway onto Sketrick Island, surrounded by the familiar green of the Environment and Heritage Service’s fences and signs. The castle is thought to date to the 15th century; it stood fairly complete until 1896 when a storm damaged the structure.
It was previously a four storey high building with a boat bay, lock up and subterranean passage. The Irish Annals record the castle being taken in 1470.
