For someone who is reaonably well travelled & who loves his food with a passion, it takes an awful lot to leave me speechless & also overwhelmed & that was just the food 🤣🤣🤣
The British Ironworks centre is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most marvelous places i have ever visited. My grandkids, were simply spellbound & didn't know where to leg it off to next.
We did find it hard to locate with both google maps & a garmin express both sending us to different locations. How you can miss a 25 foot Transformer standing next to a 25 foot bright green Hulk is hard to comprehend, but we did. We were looking for road signs & in sheer frustration decided to take the next left to turn round as i slowed down to turn there just off the road was the Hulk & Transformer. So, some signs on the main road would help us techno geeks who think Sat Navs & Google Maps are never wrong.
Upon driving into the the Ironworks Centre for about 3/4 of a mile i needed a rotating head, look at that, oh look at the, oh my god how have they made that. Simply awesome & mindblowing, parking was easy & the attendent very helpful indeed.
Right, big tip time, it's £14 per adult for entry & £4 parking, but if you book the afternoon Tea in advance, which is £27 each you get free entry. I 100% guarantee there is no better afternoon tea on this planet. So, in effect £13 for afternoon tea & a huge park to navigate with breathtaking figues everywhere made from recycled Iron. When, you arrive book in for the afternoon tea get the wrist band, pay for parking & put the ticket on the dash as ANPR will see it at home time. Wander & behold the sights before you eat, then more sights afterwards.
The sheer skills these people have is just breathtaking, from Transformers, the Hulk, The Knife Angel through to Gorilla's & The Game of Thrones Knife Throne & Minions everywhere.
Take the kids here & you will not regret it, all the staff are lovely, i just wish it wasn't...
Read moreAn excellent place to visit, it took us 2.5 hours to get there on a Friday morning from Northampton area, but definitely worth it. When you arrive you go in the entrance, & you are given a wrist band to wear& a parking permit to display on your dashboard, as there is umber plate recognition on the way out, parking is free weekdays, & i think £4 weekends. We walked through the shop & straight into the cafe for a hot drink & slice of cake before we started, cappucino, hot chocolate, slice of coffee & walnut cake, & lemon & blueberry muffin was £15, but worth it. They have some lovely items for sale in the shop, not all as expensive as you would think, to be honest not a lot different to a garden centre. When we went outside we just decided to follow a path round the endangered & critically endangered area first & took our time to look at everything. There is a display in a tent of super heroes, & outside next to it on the grass they have put herds of deer, & sheep, tortoises, monkeys & other animals. There is a lot to see, we walked for about an hour & half it takes a bit of time if you stop to take photos of all the sculptures, then we went back to car to get our lunch, we took our own, it was a lovely day to sit outside, & the cafe gets very busy, some tables were reserved, the afternoon looks amazing, as good as the reviews say it is, i will be booking one next time, but according to one of the waitresses they are booked up weekends until next year, but there are some dates for weekdays. It is a very good value for money day out, & not just for children, there were lots of adults like us, on their own. Toilets very clean, as were all areas, we also got a free adult entry voucher, not applicable ln school holidays, highly...
Read moreGoogle maps reviews from a long time back 3 to 5 years can be disregarded as they are now inaccurate. This is a 5 star place to visit. £10 entry some concession rates available but that gets you into the place, and includes the shop and cafe. Parking is £4 for a token that you must without a doubt display on your exit for the cameras to pick up otherwise watch out for the PCN heading your way. I am not a fan of these but that's my opinion and these parking agents of disgraceful and vile behaviours (see blackbelt barrister you tube) should be replaced by a much more site friendly system. Anyway rant over
The sculptures here are amazing, there is so many of these spread over the park that you can walk around, quite a lot of educational information to support them in terms of teaching our children about them although please amend the shark as an apex predator as its not that honour belongs to the Killer Whale but alas......
There was on our visit the comic book hero's and villians exhibition which was really good, such huge sculptures of our favourites from recent and much longer past
The cafe was busy but had quite a good menu, the cream teas did look inviting but having to manage his Lordships diabetic issues had to restrain him from an afternoon coma such was the size of those scones !
This place despite some of its political views is an extremely good value for money site for the period in the year which you have to pay entry fee. Check other dates think I saw free entrance rates for winter periods
An excellent site with friendly staff we saw and as for his lordship and his singing waitress ......... for another time x
Visit it and enjoy...
