What a surprise, middle of no where, excellent spectacular views. This not so well known monument is well worth a visit, with a modest fee to climb to the top £2.50 (No concesions for OAP's - greedy National Trust)

So little of our great naval history is taught in schools these days, the Spanish & French fleets destroyed at Trafalgar with Admiral Nelson's flagship HMS Victory ably commanded by Captain Hardy, who most of us only know as being being present at Nelson's untimely death "Kiss Me Hardy" and...

Took a detour to visit vice admiral hardy's monument, glad we did.. very exposed location, this 8 sided landmark with amazing 360 views is worth a visit.. large carpark with free parking (dawn to dusk)... With Seats and plenty of grassed area to sit and have a picnic.. interest boards dotted around some with walks to follow, so this makes a great starting point.. The tower is open certain times of the year, national trust members can climb the tower...

A great central hub to start your countyside walk. Fantastic views of the Dorset countryside. The terrain here is ideally suited for the more abled bodied (steepish hills), but the less adventurous could spend time at the picnic tables at the car park and enjoy the fantastic scenery. Just one downside, the narrow entrance to the car park will take the paintwork off ya car if you aren't careful (large vans and campers won't...

Wow!! I kind of always avoided going here! Thought it was going to be a bit boring with just a tall monument to view. However was I ever wrong!! The views are stunning! The monument breathtaking, ample walks through beautiful forests. If you are lucky you get to meet the local residents as well! So glad I finally made the journey! You will not be disappointed if you like the outdoors.

Not a huge amount to do up here but, on a good day, you can get lost in the breathtaking views or see what you can see in the clouds. Although you can drive in, it's very tight so, if you have a wider than average car, don't bother. Park at the bottom and walk up or park at the top and walk along. Sometimes there are cattle up here so be careful if it's foggy as they can be on the road.
