Pink Bay is a lovely little beach which people don’t make the extra effort to walk to, resulting in a quiet and calm spot perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
The walk is around 25 minutes along a very flat decked coastal path; accessible for bikes, pushchairs and wheelchairs. The coastal path walk follows the coast line on one side and the golf course on the other. Very pretty views and very flat. You pass the very busy Rest Bay beach, which I avoided due to over crowding and music playing, a smaller cove of a beach which seemed too pebbly for my liking, and then you reach Pink Bay.
To get down to the bay there is a quite steep hill of stones; nothing too extreme, but not suitable for anything with wheels. Not too dangerous, very similar to Newgale in Pembrokeshire.
When the tide is out you can sunbathe on sand (not the fluffy kind, more the solid slightly wet at the touch kin. Nothing a good towel can’t handle!), and when the tide is in you can sit on the very flat and spacious rock formations along the beach. (I promise, they were comfy to lie on. As did everyone else)
All the sand underwater was flat and pebbeless and seaweed free. So ideal for swimming. Just like being on holiday!
Dog friendly, child friendly, BBQ friendly, sea swimming friendly.
No toilets, no bins, no sand flies, no slippery rocks, no pollution.
Parking at the Rest Bay Cafe Bar Car Park was so full so quickly, and you had to pay. But 100m before, a bunch of cars parked on the over grown grass which was free. I did this and it was...
Read moreWe decided to go on the bank holiday Monday and parked up at Prothcawl. That beach was busy, so we just followed the path along side the golf course and 15-20 mins later we were on the Pnk bay beach which was much quieter. only a few familys here.
The sea is very rocky here, so be careful going in the water as it's easy to cut your feet.
but for tanning and sand it's great. but there are no toliets near by or any other amenities without the 20...
Read moreA beautiful place to walk with the family. It looks like it has a big surfing community also with a place to hire boards ect. If you're looking for rock pools, breath taking scenery or even a search for drift Wood, this beach is the place to go.
Also, other visitors are very lovely and conscientious, no littering is refreshing! We took a bag to pick up any dropped but here there was only one single piece that looked more dropped from a pocket....
