Lots of history here. The mine, Wheal Sally has long since closed and nature is slowly returning the spoil piles to greenery. It must have been an awful place to be in the 1800s. The beach is unspoilt because it is inaccessible due to the pathway collapsing, like many beaches on this coast. You can see in the second photo' the path just ends near the fencing.

Stopped off at this place whilst on a cycle ride. You cannot drive to it, but a mountain bike or walking would be best. Lovely views from this location. I want to come back and explore it some more

An old mine area half of which is located within the MOD site so not accessible but can be seen. Steep steps on both sides so no easy access and can be slippy in the wet. A waterfall can be seen from the coast path on either side as you approach. Not an awful lot to see to be honest, a capped off mine shaft marker and some old buildings, imagination required. I saw a path by the side of the waterfall that seemed to head down towards the beach but I didn't try due to rain and slippy rocks, not sure I would try in the dry to be honest and I'm a bit of an...

I kayaked to Sally's bottom last year. It will forever live in the memory very unspoilt and absolutely stunning. Stayed there for an hour and enjoyed the solitude. If your gonna try it be careful and wait for a rare day when the north coast has no swell and no wind and launch from either porthtowan or...
