I know I need to share this beautiful place but I don’t want to deep down for selfish reasons. This place made me cry, overwhelmed with nature (my favourite thing) I saw 4 deer a falcon and 10 zippy gnat catching blissfully unaware of human existence ducklings. This place is so tranquil, luscious green moss covers most of the area, bird calls fill the air and if you stay until the sun starts setting (watch out for midges) the light shining through the tall trees is something you will never forget. Read moreThis chimney represents thousands of years of industry in this area so it is great that is was saved from destruction. There is access by wheelchair or prams along the gravel track from the car park. Near to the chimney there are a few very shallow "steps" where boards have been inserted across the path to stop the gravel washing down the slope. These are barely a couple of inches high. Read moreThis is a nice little walk to take the family or just of you'd like a bit of purge and quiet.
A nice flat and (for the most part) easy to walk path suitable for buggies too. One of the trails comes out at an historic smelting chimney called "Smitham Chimney". In front of the chimney is a pond which had a huge number of dragon flies flying around.
It was very quiet when we went.
