We have visited Elan Valley many times, and there are plenty of walks around the beautiful Valley to keep you busy.

First stop is usually the visitor centre which has a cafe serving hot food and drinks if you haven't taken anything with you, and of course there are toilets too...and a gift shop too should you want to buy something to mark your visit.

The touch screen parking meters sometimes aren't operational, but you can still pay in the gift shop if they are playing up. Parking is only £3 for the whole day, or you can park up for free for one hour.

The lack of rain meant no tumbling water over the dam on our visit this time, but it is still interesting and enjoyable nonetheless. Every time we visit we see the amazing kites flying overhead. They are magnificent and have become numerous...

A stunning setting well worth a visit.

There is a lovely visitor centre and cafe onsite with a large kids play area out back. Parking is enough for the number of visitors, many of whom just do a quick stop off while passing through.

While we were there works were ongoing at the dam and we started at the visitor centre carpark and walked up to the top of the dam. The paths are clear and well marked but some can take quite a bit of effort due to the...

We parked at the Elan Valley Visiter Centre (£3 park all day), grabbed a coffee and then walked along to Caban Côch. Due to lack of rainfall the reservoirs are very low so there are no waterfalls flowing but the dams themselves are just stunning. We then continued walking to the next dam from here. You can also drive to all the dams as well (we did drive to see the furthest dams - weather was poor!)

This is just one of the five amazing dams at beautiful Elan valley. There is very little water in these reservoirs currently as is the case in most areas. So the landscape looks dry but it is very beautiful still. The visitor centre is a good place to begin and we brought bicycles to explore the quiet little roads that follow the reservoirs of Elan valley
