Not to be redundant or outdone by other reviews, but, in summary, everyone has been telling the truth. The place is absolutely beautiful and there is so much to explore. We spent about 3-4 hours there and feel like we could potentially come back for a week in this area to thoroughly explore more and more. The vast dams with intricate designs and grandiose impacts typical of the era of 1893 are stunning, but something less touched upon is the surrounding environment. The forests, nearby churches and smaller buildings are beautiful, and the smaller details shine by themselves, but paired with each dam, the whole environment sings. The scenery was just simply breathtaking, I didnt want to blink in case I missed another amazing eye shot. The dams & the surrounding area is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen or experienced. The weather was grey & slightly damp, which for me was perfect to take in the surreal atmosphere created amongst the mountainous backdrops. Everything was worth it to just be there in that place at that time, hard to explain in words but you need to see this place if you have not witnessed it your self. Get a treat at Penbont Tea Rooms at Pen y Garreg, now one of the best places to have afternoon tea....

We visited on a stunning August day and the photos reflect this, but I bet its still stunning in the middle of winter.
