Zip World Tower. We arrived here on a Saturday afternoon in early October. The rain was falling and the low clouds felt ominous. Our group had arranged a birthday surprise for Weekendwildness team member, Dave, and nothing was going to dampen our spirits. As we entered the main building you are surrounded by information, merch and activity. It builds the anticipated excitement inside you as you wait to receive your dose of fun. We were booked in by Laura, (probably the most friendly and bubbly person youre ever likely to meet) and she saw to it that we had exactly what we needed. We were also looked after by Jo. He had a chat with us about filming for our YouTube channel, and before you know it, we were given permission. Ash, The manager on duty, was very pleased to invite us back for an evening session to experience the park after dark. What an amazing team of people. During out time at Zip World, we had time to look about the place properly and enjoy all the rides avaliable, and we were not disappointed. Safety here is paramount, and at no point did any of us feel we weren't properly looked after by people who knew what they were doing. Clear instructions were given, high levels of safety procedure were adhered to, and staff were all polite, patient and friendly. I can't express enough how well this place is run and just how safe you feel regardless of how scared you might be. A fantastic team of staff throughout.
On our visit we experienced the Phoenix zip line, the Flyer zip lines and the coater ride many times and had the greatest time. You can even take your experience home with you as head cameras are provided on most of the rides and you can purchase this footage at your leisure. Fantastic. It is definitely somewhere the whole family can enjoy and there are enough provisions made for smaller children to enjoy the park too. Facilities here were very good. A very nice, and very large cafe restaurant was available and wheelchair access isn't a problem throughout the park. All in all, probably one of our more exciting outings and made more enjoyable by the staff. For more adventures like this, feel free to follow us on YouTube...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing day here! I booked online. I booked two activities. The tower coaster and the phoenix zip line. On arrival we checked in. I was told that I had booked my time slots way too far apart, and luckily they had an earlier slot so we changed the time at the desk. I feel that the website could be more clear of how long each activity lasts and how much time to leave in between. Was no issue with changing times on this occasion but I imagine if it was busier then it would be a problem.
Anyway. Off to the tower coaster. my son and I shared a car. We had so much fun. You get 3 turns. there is a weight and age limit so be sure to check this before you book. You get a QR code for a video recording each time, this was £5 to purchase per video.
There is a bar/restaurant on site. It was really lovely. They had up some information about the coal mine and the views from upstairs was amazing! Toilets etc there too. All clean and good.
We then went to join the queue for our time slot of the phoenix zip line. We got our harnesses on and a safety talk. Then went to the mini bus. 15min drive to the top. Amazing views on the way.
Once we got to the top we were strapped on to the zip line. Felt in safe hands the whole time. The first zip line was incredible. The views were fantastic.
Then a short walk to the next one, up some stairs. strapped in once again and off we went. met at the bottom by staff to unclip us.
You then get your video receipt at the bottom. I paid £25 for 2 videos. Mine and my son's.
Top tip that I didn't think about until after!! If you're going with someone, look at eachother for part of your descent. This will mean that you will actually be able to see yourselves and not just the views. Luckily we got a couple of shots of us both but if I did it again I would definitely think about this more. And be more aware of where my camera is pointing. We got a lot of shots of my hands and the harness which isn't the best!!
All in all we had a fantastic time and I would love to...

I booked in a Phoenix Tower zip line and organised it on the ONE day my friends and loved ones had available, drove hours and stayed over night in Wales.
I had checked the weather before making the trip and there was snow due to fall later that day, however there was no snow during the night and our appointment was before this time. I know this as I stayed overnight close to the location.
It was a clear day when we woke up but when I checked my phone I got a vague text at 10am on the day of our appointment that they were only "operating the 2nd line today". This was not a clear message as there are 4 zip lines on the main Phoenix zip line, and I had 4 people in my party. So when they say only operating the 2nd line, this suggested that only 1 of those 4 lines were operational, which was okay for me and my party. I also showed this message to 3 other people and they all thought the exact same as I did, so it's not for lack of understanding.
We were running late due to traffic for our zip line appointment so called them to say so, but they then clarified over the phone when we were 15 minutes away that only the small zipline was available today due to the big zipline being "snowed in"...
We had travelled hours, bought accommodation and everything that comes along with it and the zip tickets worth over £200 for them to tell us 15 minutes before our zip adventure that they had closed the Phoenix zipline on a clear day for being "snowed in."
They offered to change the date of the appointment which was not a viable solution as I had hand picked this day as the only available day for my party as one is travelling back to America and the other to Uni
If it were truly snowed in could nothing really had been done about it? Such as using a bag of salt to clear the snow or a shovel... Instead have simply taken money from us and delivered nothing but vague text messages, poor customer service over the phone and a disappointing drive back...
