Amazing beach. Went with three teenagers who loved it so much, we are returning today. Huge beach with sand dunes and stunning backdrop of Snowdonia. Jellyfish on beach provided much interest. Walked out to Llanddwyn Island at low tide, which was beautiful and took almost three hours. Waves enabled the kids to do bodyboarding (not as good as at the windier beaches nearby on Llyn Peninsula) yet also calm and warm enough to enjoy a great swim. There's a huge pine forest with red squirrels and a number of marked trails for walking, orienteering. Lots of people cycling in Forest. Will definitely return with bikes ourselves next year. Arrive early as queues for parking build up by late morning. £5 car parking fee (card payment only at the moment with covid) but well worth it because we spent the whole day here. Newborough Beach and Llandwyn Island are the most lovely places to visit on Anglesey. The sandy beach rivals anywhere in the world. It is an extensive stretch of clean sandy with great views of Snowdonia. Walking across the beach you can reach Llandwyn Island, a historic spot which is associated with St. Dwynwen. The name Llanddwyn means "The church of St. Dwynwen". Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of lovers, the Welsh equivalent of St. Valentine. The island has the ruins of a church, a lighthouse and some fishermen's cottages. Our walk was on a windy, blustery day. The sand was blowing in our faces and the island was full of atmosphere. A film crew where their fiming and so we were restricted slightly on our walk but it didn't impede us too much. We felt so invigorated when we returned to our car, a must see place for anyone...
