Since having gone again recently i am changing my review. Granted the place is absolutely stunning. Its well kept, a nice relaxing area to chill out and most of the time very friendly people. Until recently. I took a walk with my partner around and kept getting evil stare from this guy.
It happed more than often and began to make my partner extremely uncomfortable. So we decided to leave down the nature trail where she then was playing pokemon go and wanted to stop to do something. Upon walking to the car park the bloke from earlier was there. Intimidated but determined to not make a scene we tried to swiftly get past... we got into my car which was parked near where he was stood.
The guy remained to stare at us continuously and then said to a passerby something which i did not hear, but it was obviously about us because he pointed directly at us as if we had kidnapped a child. I then got out the car, and asked him if there was a problem? He just stared at me. The passerby at this point had then left, and the guy continued to stare. I asked again is there a problem or was he just crazy. He then again did not respond. This guy has put me off this place.
Never before in a park have i felt so intimidated, worried and as if i was being followed. I honestly felt so bad for my partner as someone who struggles with anxiety and depression it stressed her out alot. This guy was clearly on something. Watch out for these creeps as they exist.
If you go here. I hope you have a better experience than what this...
Read moreEasy access park, with well made parks, lake and grass area. Some steep inclines and small piece of rougher wood. Stream through the middle of the walk, leading to a lake. Carpark for about 15 cars, turning off main road. This is a landscaped space rather than a wild wood, however informal and naturalistic feel. Worth a visit, only a 15 min walk for adults at a slow pace, great for toddlers, prams etc and the elderly.
Cafe is there, but it looked more like a kiosk, and we have not yet frequented it, being usually too early and also being the cafe purests we are, ha ha 😏
Twice now we have seen a fisherman catch a fish from the lake, and loads of ducks, squirrels and also a rodent that ran into the lake? Water rat or vole? So a good place for small mammals and bird spotting, understanding that we go early on a Sunday son only a few people about.
At Our latest visit, we noticed the large ash tree at the start of the walk, on left hand trail as you face the woods from the car park has been felled, you can see the hole in the trunk, and logs which they have left. 👍👌 About 40?% of this wood is ash so it will have glade in the near future, as it is a managed space, with a steady stream of visitors so these will likely need to be felled if die...
Read moreI visit Jubilee Lake about three times a week. The car park is on Brinkworth Road. From here there are two paths down to the lake. The right path takes you to the playground, the excellent little café (Tea in the Park) and the toilets. The left path takes you down through the trees near the Thunderbrook and has nature trail signs. Paths are smooth but a little steep in places. The lake is used mainly for short walks, picnicking and fishing. There are usually ducks, and in summer you can see geese (can be grumpy!) and sometimes a heron. The lake is owned and managed by the town council. Dogs are welcome, but leads preferred, especially around children...
