Aberavon Beach in Port Talbot is great for people wanting a cheap day out at the seaside. It is easily accessible by both bus and car.  The sandy beach is very spacious and flat making it an ideal spot for a picnic. In the summer, on weekends and school holidays the beach is popular with everyone especially families. If visiting you will need to bring your own windbreak, deckchairs, sun cream etc because there is no beach shop or sunbed hire.

As well as the beach there is also a wide promenade which is great for walking and cycling.  There are grassed areas including sunken gardens, crazy golf, a skate park, a life boat station, toilets, plenty of benches and children's playgrounds with a free splash pool.  Along the promenade there are lots of places to eat and drink including Remos, Francos, The Front, Cinnamon Kitchen and Memos Cafe Bar. There is plenty of parking along the beach front or at Scarlet Avenue Carpark and Ocean Way Carpark. Near to the beach there is also The Best Western Hotel and a leisure centre.  I would recommend a visit, but bear in mind that the beach is NOT a traditional seaside resort with arcades, a funfair, donkey rides or souvenir shops...

An outstanding beach.

Wales does it again! This is a really lovely beach which is well worth a visit.

It’s clean and spacious. It has places to sit on the steps if you don’t want to go on the sand. The sand is great for playing and building! The sea was not cold (temperature was 18 in the last week of July).

There are play areas right next to it; one for toddlers, for older children and an aqua park which is a must-visit.

There are a few places to eat nearby (Marco’s) which are a standard fare.

There was nowhere to rent umbrellas or loungers but you can buy buckets and spades at the RNLI gift shop which is just next to the ferris wheel (I am not sure the ferris wheel works as it was never on when I was there).

I would personally come to this beach again, definitely one to...

Perfect family day at Aberamon Beach

We had such a lovely day at Aberamon Beach! It’s a long, sandy beach with shallow water – perfect for kids. I wasn’t worried at all letting them run down and play in the water. They had fun the whole day!

There’s a good fish shop nearby, and the ice cream stand had really yummy ice cream – we all enjoyed it! Plus, there’s a big playground close by, which was great for keeping the kids busy and happy.

One thing I really liked – the parking! It was super cheap, just £4 for the whole day, and only about a four-minute walk to the beach. That made everything so easy.

We stayed all day, and even at the end, the kids still had energy to jump in the waves. The water was cold, but they didn’t mind at all. We all really enjoyed ourselves. Can’t...

A beautiful beach. Even though you are so close to the industrial site and sewage plant, you do not smell or see anything linked to them. Truly captures the saying a "diamond in the rough". It is also a great beach it seems for surfers and dogs. Either end of the beach are dog beaches when they are not allowed on the main beach during the summer period. The main beach itself, on a nice day is always packed with surfers and trust me, I have seen some massive waves down there as I live so close I go down nearly every day/evening to walk the dog. I will say, Port Talbot itself is not the best but it is definitely becoming a nicer place to be with all the work they are doing down here.
