We made a special trip over to Aultbea from Moray to visit the museum this week. It was well worth it. There are many interesting displays and in particular it was worth sitting and watching the whole of the video that is available to view in the back corner of the museum. That taught us so much. We were given a pamphlet detailing areas of further interest around Loch Ewe relating to its WW2 history and we went off after our visit to explore each one. Not only did it give us a better feel for what occurred in the area during the war years, but we had fantastic views of the locality from angles we may never have seen otherwise. Yes, we were very fortunate with the weather - and no midges! Thank you to the staff at the museum for your enthusiasm and service. Very well done. We hope that more interest in this niche area of WW2 will be raised during the 80th anniversary. The brave souls who served at that time deserve to be more widely remembered for the part...

This is a wonderful record of our history, WW2. The courage of the navy & merchant navy personnel. Extraordinary men & women doing extraordinary work on the convoy ships to Russia. You must be prepared to read a lot of the information. If you can have the patience to read the articles & look at the artifacts then you get the sense of the courage required to sail on these convoys. The hardships of weather & the fear of encountering the german U-boats & their dreaded torpedoes!! The volunteer was so knowledgeable about the convoys and the people on board & on shore! It was a sheer joy to listen to her explain living history. My auntie was a wren during WW2, so this was very real. Wonderful wee museum, take the time!...

Excellent place to visit and understand the landscape and history of the Loch Ewe area. There is plenty for everyone to enjoy from great models of the vessels that took part for kids (and us bigger kids) to a rich history of information and stories from the brave men that served on those ships.

Plenty of parking outside and easy to find being right next to the NC500. Disabled ramp for entry to premises and plenty of room to manoeuvre inside.

We forget so easily that those who are enemies were once friends and allies, this serves as a memory of those times and it is important we learn and remember that. I deliberately took no photos as it's important you visit and read and look...

Great little museum! Friendly staff greet you and explain a little about the WWII Loch Ewe anchorage and defenses before leaving you to quietly make your way around the solemn, yet fascinating tribute to the extraordinary effort made by all those concerned with the Artic Convoys. Immersive recollections from the local residents, epic reports of selfless heroism, mind blowing naval statistics and many, many items recovered from the area that were used in the conflict. As cameras were banned from this area during its use as a military anchorage, this museum provides an insight into a period that is not particularly well recorded.

We found the Russian Arctic Convoy Museum quite by chance as we road tripped the NC500 around northern Scotland. We pulled over, and paid the £5 each to get in. Our time was short, and we spent less than an hour there. Though the museum is small, however, I do believe you could spend half-a-day here if you wanted to read all of the information presented. The basic content is a history and commemoration of the Russian Arctic Convoys which shipped armaments and food to Murmansk and Archangel to keep Russia fighting on Europe's eastern front in WW2. All VERY interesting, and well worth your visit.

This is an amazing little museum. They have amassed a lot of information that you can see and learn about what happened during the Second World War. It is quite something to think of that journey from Loch Ewe all the way to either Archangel or Murmansk in nothern Russia. These people were so brave to go on a journey not knowing whether they would reach safely or come under attack on route. It only costs £5 for an adult and they also have an interesting little souvenir shop. I really enjoyed my visit and I am so glad I made the effort to come.
