We travelled to Inverness as a family, 20 years ago, I a boy, and my brother a younger lad, via Glasgow, where we stopped and ate at a pub.
Mushrooms, peas, Jacket potatoes and bread. We were vegetarians from India. The price was not exhorbitant. And Glasgow, what a city. We took the train, it crossed Newcastle, and we saw the Stadium of Light, Sunderland, I knew from watching the Barclays Premier League.
I was 13.
In Inverness, we arrived in the evening, and it was cold, bitterly, and we stayed at an Inn, with iron heating rods where we heated our Gujarati home-made theplas, learned in Mumbai, or Bombay then, or still, and always to some, under Fadnavis ;), and had a small dinner. Or a big dinner.
Would you know now? How has the world turned, how has it changed?
We visited the quay, in the evening, and I had a delusion. I was mesmerised, my family afar, I walked to edge of the water and met Thelda the Siren, she rose, a silver spectre, and said 'Halt, do not pass'. I stalked back to my family.
The next day, by morning's light, we saw the Firth of Forth, which was frightening. I think this is the place. And, by Lordly right, I am not recognised fully as a Chevalier, in Scotland, the High Road, the Low Road though I hope to be.
I am happy for Pride, and I see Scotland on Television. It is my ambition that Merida have my child. I am built of stern stuff, and not on my last legs, and my love to some was like a red red rose, as Frost said. But now, I am alone, and for it.
Edinburgh was also lovely. Green, mossy, and castle.
May God bless the people of Scotland. It gets colder. I have a knee knock too. I'm lucky to be in North India :). Please do stop by. I recommend the Theog. All old trails have changed, since India moved forward someway, but we hope you acquiesce to us, to know something of a better world for our people, with our partners.
As you know, Scotland may benefit, from the FTA, signed by Sir Keir. God bless him.
