All locked up with no sign of entry being possible to get up it. Despite Google Maps on my Pixel 3XL phone showing what looked to be a 'dot dot dot' path up to Binnhill Tower from the path which leads off from opposite the front gate of Kinfauns Castle below the tower, although I managed to make it up one of these paths to the tower, it's very overgrown with nettles in places so don't wear shorts. There were also a few treacherous parts where you're walking along the side of the very steep hill on very loose soil. I think I'll be ready to work in lion taming or trapeze arttistry after that! It's much safer and easier to access the tower from the Binnhill Park entrance above, a photo of which is attached.

When I visited via this 'easy' path, I did find it was quite muddy and also had nettles coming up to the edge in lots of places. On the same day, nearby paths were alot less slippery because they had fine gravel or small pieces of organic matter (bark chips?) underfoot. This definitely aided the drainage to keep the paths in much better condition. Opposite that entrance on the other side of the road is a nice path that leads up the neighbouring hill to Deuchny Woodhill Park, but that's for a...

🏰 Binnhill Tower 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Kinfauns, Perth & Kinross 📜 Accessible circular route

Binnhill Tower is currently registered as a private residence (exterior viewing only) And was built in 1815 by Francis Gray, 14th Lord Gray, of Kinfauns Castle, to serve as both an observatory and talking point in the lavish landscaped policies of his estate.

Today the folly is flanked by Forestry Commission woodland and, while just a short stroll from the nearest road, it can be incorporated into a longer outing, exploring neighbouring Deuchny Wood and an...

We got lost in the woods but it was a lovely view. I would suggest parking at the top of the entrance road and going right as you look at the hill. Then follow the worn path all the way to the top. When you're coming back, go back the same way. We thought we'd go down the other side instead of the way we came. It wasn't the greatest idea lol.

And the cows have a serious attitude... proper stare...

Been meaning to visit this tower for years. Finally done it. Lovely walk through the woods that surround and hide the tower. Now to research its history.
