This 17th century doocot is in extremely good condition. The doocot is situated on castle hill in the village of Auldearn. It was presented to the National Trust for Scotland in 1947. The little building is not open to the public but you do get a nice view of the surrounding countryside. It is interesting to note that the Battle of Auldearn was fought in the fields nearby on the 9th May 1645. The door is locked so you can only look from the outside which shows you nothing and the information board is good but again, what once was there is no longer so nothing to see.
