After emailing to book online, the curator was kind enough to open up for us. The museum was full of amazing information, books to read, artifacts to admire, and even records to show where the clan have all emigrated to. I went with my Husband who is a Cameron, and we found out things even he didn't know. The gift shop is packed full of lovely things, and definitely found gifts for everyone. In an amazing area, of outstanding beauty, the curator was also kind enough to show us where to walk to see the castle from a prime place to take photo's. Will definitely be visiting again...
Read moreDecided to visit this small (or should that be 'Wee') but mighty museum on the last day of our holiday and glad we did. Friendly welcome and interesting museum about the Cameron Clan history, also incorporating a small display about the Commandos who trained here during WW2. Then walked around 25mins from the museum to the Eas Chia-Aig Waterfalls, passing over a long bridge at the end of Loch Arkaig to the falls, and were fortunate to spot two Red Squirrels on route. Beautiful views along the Loch from the bridge. Then a walk back for a cup of tea...
Read moreLate November it was shut when we visited, but still enjoyed walk around the area taking in the river and loch and interesting military info points along the way. In the nearby area is stunning scenery with pretty waterfalls and pools that I'd love to come back to in spring or summer. The bothy a short walk from here is also worth a visit for free rustic rural accommodation, but beware of flooding.
