Devilla Forest is a stunning natural haven in Scotland, offering a diverse range of landscapes and outdoor activities. With miles of tranquil walking trails, serene lochs, and abundant wildlife, Devilla Forest is a true paradise for nature lovers.
However, during my recent visit, I came across a run-down house located on the outskirts of the forest by a Loch . The house appeared in a state of disrepair and there was a sense of eerie neglect that surrounded it.
What was most concerning was the presence of an aggressive Alsatian dog outside the house. The dog barked ferociously at anyone who walked past, making it difficult to explore the area nearby. I found myself feeling quite intimidated by the dog, which looked like it was not being cared for properly.
Despite this negative experience, I still highly recommend Devilla Forest to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in the midst of nature. The forest itself is well-maintained and offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including cycling, fishing, and wildlife watching. The trails are clearly marked and suitable for all levels of fitness, making it a great destination for families, couples, or solo travelers.
Overall, Devilla Forest is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature. Just be sure to steer clear of that run-down house and the...
Read moreLove this place, it's got a stunning short trail arround a small loch. Parking: not much, it's about 20 odd spaces but if you keep going arround the circular car park you probably find someone will leave soon.
Cycle: yes, it has a lovely cycle trail that takes you past two lochs however WARNING there has been deep fresh large stone gravel layed which makes cycling a little harder and punctured my wheel.
Kids: the squirrel trail is awesome for kids lots of totems and twig huts with some benches by the loch for you to have a nice lunch.
Update! 🍄 Seems like a popular mushroom picking spot but you must contact land owners and read the sign at the carpark.
It's VERY popular sport for dog walkers so you very very likely to pass many dogs at the start of your route.
There is no gate so no opening times and no charge to use the parking.
Great spot for a lovely pine...
Read moreReally great forest walks. The car park is a medium size with picnic benches. We used FK10 4AS to locate the parking. There is a few different trails. The information board explained difficulties of the trails, expected shoes and time it takes. We done the easy 1.2Miles trail which took 45min and looped around the loch. Picnic benches around the loch and some seated benches. The path has gravel and can suit buggies However wheelchairs users might need extra strength of some of the terrain. No public toilets. Bins only at the entrance so possibly bring carry bag with water and to hold any waste. The scenery is stunning and the trees are mighty to be around. We found brambles and blueberries for foraging. Truly a wonderful experience. Great place for dogs. Many...
