Having seen the marker on Google Maps we were determined to visit this spot and the brown tourist sign at the turning was very helpful.
There is little more than the outline of the building now, laid out in stones from the lowest part of what would have been the walls to the cottage.
There is a wooden gate to step through but do be careful to close it after you leave.
The cairn and its memorial plaque are accompanied by a more detailed explanation on an information board also inside the walls.
It is right that Flora MacDonald is remembered but it’s a shame that the track to get to the cottage is in such a poor state of repair - hubby took some persuading to take the car down.
