Looked forward to visiting...unfortunately greeted with a Union Jack which even English people want to come to Scotland and feel the scottishness on their hoilidays. I do belive from local information it's not Scottish people that own this, I hope one day the national trust takes over as the gardens are more like a poorly mainted forest and no signs of any gardening. Some nice Rhodies but your better bypassing and going to rig bay for lovely views. Also belive the inside of Galloway house the conditions are really bad and the upkeep isn't being dealt with at all. Real shame for Scotland and the tourists coming here. I see they have replied to me and sadly used D Day as an excuse which is out of order. The union jack was there about 8 months ago when visited too. As said this need new ownership, if you don't have the money then don't buy a historic building you can't upkeep. You're reply is shocking. God rest those men. Going by other replies it seems the owners who are nasty pieces of work. "Division" comment...

Galloway house in size is more similar to Downton Abbey. its gardens are magnificent and natural, as opposed to pompously laden and perceived. When you enter the garden paths, you feel like you’re walking into a land that time forgot. Unless I’m mistaken, there are Sequoia trees. You can enter the garden by car and must pay and display, or you can walk on a path from Garlieston Lodge campsite in which case entry is free.
It’s important to note that while you can bring your dogs to enjoy these wonderful surrounds, dog owners must taking their dog poo home. The gardens are maintained by volunteers and unfortunately some people were leaving doggy bags of poo by the entrance which is extremely disappointing.
The view of Rigg Bay is astonishing, like a secret...

Granted "gardens" might be a tad liberal these days, especially if you were thinking formal or managed, more of a grand old tree collection from another age. Lovely spot for a quiet ramble, or to rock pool on the rugged shore. Not the place to bring your old folks to look at roses or sit on benches admiring statues and sundials as there are none - no roses, benches nor statues and sundials. Agree with the chap above - 1hr is not quite long enough, but £5.25 is a bit steep for all day unless you are headed to the beach with the entire family or just wish to support the charity. A 2hr option might suit more pockets. *The walled garden is...
