A stunning museum for young and old. You can't help but be amazed at some of the exhibits, and for me they were all amazing. My favourite exhibits were the quartz, insanely beautiful. Very well presented, very clean and very sparkly! It's not a huge museum, but there is plenty to see and I really recommend that you take your time at each exhibit because otherwise you'll miss some fascinating and beautiful things. Many exhibits are not behind glass, some are really huge. The café was a very pleasant bonus. It's a great size, plenty of seating including a pair of settees close to a log burner, that was nice! Food was lovely, staff were very careful with my coeliac requirements and they were really on the ball, brilliant. It's rare that a café has gluten free bread, but this one did, and I felt it was my birthday when I had a toasted bacon sandwich! The gift shop is a good size too. Lots of genuinely good quality things, not just souvenirs, but genuinely nice things to treat yourself to. They also had a superb range of "raw" gems and rocks that you could buy. I bought a huge piece of Mica (which I've always been fascinated with). All the staff in the museum, the cafe and the shop were so friendly and helpful. Entry fee was very reasonable, a perfect afternoon! Oh finally, if you have an EV, there is a charging station 5 minutes walk away, so it's perfect for a good charge while you visit the Gem Rock Museum 💎.

What a fantastic find! I love that it's a family run business that stems from the current owners fathers gem collection. They have some fantastic quizzes for kids to keep them occupied and a great wee shop with something for everyone. I treated myself to a pair of aquamarine studs which I love, plus some good quality gemstones to add to my collection. My 5 year old daughter found the gem cave very exciting and also the professors study for watching a brief film on the history of gems. The coffee shop is also very good. Tasty home cooked food, a good selection of cakes and biscuits and drinks. I love how the entrance fee is valid for 2 weeks too! The only thing I would change is that it would benefit from a outdoor play area for the kids.

Excellent and fascinating collection in different modes from glass cases to a Gem Cave, also a Professor's Study (complete with Indiana Jones slouch hat!) and a bright, airy cafe. There is a shop to buy beautiful polished stones quite cheaply although more expensive pieces were there as gift ideas. We took a special trip to see it and were certainly not disappointed. We may go back as there is too much to take in all at once. Kids will love the giant bear skeleton. We found no restrictions on photography and while the parking is adequate there is plenty of nearby on-street parking. Highly recommended for the thoughtful visitor and family.

I've passed the road sign pointing to the museum many times over the years, and always thought it'll be like a wee local collection of some stones, how wrong I was! My wife has suggested us going a few times recently, I relented today and off we went, I'll point out now that the biggest Gem in Creetown is the museum itself, in fact I felt a bit guilty that I had passed by this place as often and never gave it a second thought. I don't think we'll ever look at a stone or rock again and think it's just a stone Some off the exhibits are totally amazing, and come in all shapes and sizes, and some are truly unbelievable that they are items of nature. We spent that long there we ended up having lunch in the museum cafe, good food and reasonable prices. Will definitely recommend to any friends and family who are looking for a...
