A mini fantasy adventure. Take a weaving ancient forest walk up to an iron gate in a wizard tower. (Would that this door take you down to a D&D dungeon!) An atmospheric spiralling staircase takes you up into the sky with just flashes of daylight from the slit windows. The view is incredible, unparalleled views over east lothian and into Fife. 1 hour family adventure (take your imagination). We could clearly see the bridges on the horizon. Other than free parking there are no facilities. No wheelchair access, though the path was flat enough for my blind wife to manage. Top tip: If I was a dungeon master setting up a new game, this is where you take your group to set up on a nice day.

A picturesque monument, standing on a rare piece of high-ground, in East Lothian. As a result, the views are fantastic. I went in the evening, when the sun was in the west, which caused a lot of haze. Those of you who like to take photos, might be better visiting in the late morning, or early afternoon, when the sun is over the Lammermuir Hills, to the south.

What a view!!!! 😍....but what a climb!! 😂 Not a long walk but I was fair out of puff when I reached the summit. Views, however, made it well worth the effort as you can see for miles!! Stoney path so decent pair of trainers required. Tiny carpark (less than 10 spaces i reckon). Good way to kill an hour if youre in the vicinity

Holy Moly What a steep climb. If you're not fit, take it very slowly, even if you need to stop 8 times. It is a hard climb but worth it for the views. After gathering your breath, you can climb up to the top of the tower. Once again it's a steep climb up a very narrow spiral staircase. The views from the top are amazing You suddenly forget the difficult climb. The gasping for breath and the feeling you're about to die because it's spectacular. Saw 2 baby chick's. Maybe pigeon.

Yes it's...

It's probably not fair to criticise when I don't know who's responsible for the upkeep of this structure. Nevertheless, it's been closed since 2020, I believe because it has been deemed to be unsafe. Certainly, the last time we went up (with young children), the steps were in a state of considerable disrepair. It's lovely to look at from the outside, but the view from the top was incredible. Needs a little TLC, maybe some internal lighting to make it...
