When I researched Invergordon before travelling there, this museum became the main attraction for me. I had sent an email to confirm entry times. It was on a side street a lot further down the High Street from the train station than I had thought from Google Maps. (MY problem on a very warm day). There were two volunteers there when I visited. One gave me a lot of information on much of the museum contents and they both were people I was very pleased to have met. It is a lovely building with displays only on one level. It is disabled friendly with easy passage between lines of displays. I was told that there could be crowds there when ships 🚢 were in port, so I had picked my day well. Expansion of the display was mentioned as a possibility. Admission is free. Not related to the museum, but I found my welcome to Invergordon most warming. Read moreThis was an unexpected small gem in a charming small town. It had a broad range of local history interesting pictures, information, and tidbits to be appreciated by those passing through. I was lucky enough to be there when there was a local arts and crafts show and charity benefit. Definitely a good way to support the local community and appreciate the talented individuals who reside in the area.

There are very reasonable, quirky shops for art and souvenirs much cheaper than many other areas you will encounter in the larger cities. All of the locals I spoke with were lovely and very appreciative of...
Read moreWe've tried to see this museum for the last three years, for some reason it was closed, probably down to COVID, I really liked this place, a museum that took me back to how museums used to be, nothing interactive or anything artificial, just real exhibits capturing the story of how world wars, the royal navy, oil related industries and the local distillery have contributed to the community and more latterly the cruise ships that visit, they have numerous ships plaques displayed, they are huge ships taking advantage of the deep water berths. Invergordon seems like one of those places that is bypassed by most driving by on the A9, it deserves more people stopping off to appreciate...
