I cannot rate the "BBQ & Coo" event at Jackson's At Jedburgh highly enough!!

My husband and I arranged this date night for our 3rd wedding anniversary. He wasn't sure at all that it would be "his thing" and now he can't wait to go back.

We arrived for 5:30pm, after the farm had closed to the public for the day, and were greeted by Beth; who's absolutely charming

I received a highland cow experience for two for my 40th birthday from my colleagues at work, we also booked our daughter on the tour also. This experience was nothing short of amazing. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. Had no problem answering any and all questions. We checked in and had a browse round the farm shop which normally you tend to find are a little highly priced but I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices. Even treated myself to some presents to me. Unlucky we had quite a long journey home so couldn’t purchase any of the fresh meat! We then went and fed the animals while waiting for our tour time (a bag of animal feed is included in the price of your experience, but you can purchase more if needed), we then went on a trailer ride to the field with the heard of highland cows. It was bliss! If that heard had trampled me I would have died a happy lady!!!! The babies were so sweet especially Master Harold who was just a wee darling also had another baby try to eat my new top and trust me I was letting her. I was very impressed with the over all experience and the ethos behind the running of the farm. It was amazing to see how Jackson’s at Jedburgh were trying to reintroduce all colours of highland cattle as they are all beautiful not just your token ginger coo! I also love the fact that there are toddler workshops for children run weekly. This is a very special place and if you love highland coos then you should definitely not miss the chance to have your...

My son and daughter both went on Friday my daughter has been wanting to see highland coos up close! So my son said for her birthday he'd take her.

Their pictures, videos and talks about it literally just show how much of an amazing experience this was for them both! She's ticked one of her dreams off and definitely they plan on doing it again sometime 💜

Notes: Fenwick, who took us on the tour was extremely friendly and more than happy to explain or answer any questions, As we got close to the highland cows and out he carefully explained everything needed to be known about being around such a magnificent animal this is an experience you don't want to miss out on if you or a loved one loves their Highland cow's ❤️

They went for the guided tour but at the end you can go get free feed to go see and feed the other animals on the farm when returning even if you've not had contact with the cows you can wash your hands and be safe in the knolage your clean and won't harm other animals.

I can also note here that we had to change our booking a couple times due to unforeseen circumstances so it's great to know they are happy to do all they can to help you out before you go.

There's no sort of limits on what you can't do in terms of even when the guided tour is done you can just go off round the farm and view the other animals and get up close to some amazing creatures! So there's not much left to say apart from it your looking to give somebody an amazingly good...

I cannot rate the "BBQ & Coo" event at Jackson's At Jedburgh highly enough!! My husband and I arranged this date night for our 3rd wedding anniversary. He wasn't sure at all that it would be "his thing" and now he can't wait to go back. We arrived for 5:30pm, after the farm had closed to the public for the day, and were greeted by Beth; who's absolutely charming <3 We were given animal feed in bags and sent around to feed the Goats, Pigs, Sheep and Ponies - you could also see Cows at this point but they couldn't be more disinterested in us. The Kids were gorgeous, and the Goats have some attitude on them - one in particular tried to steal almost all of the feed we had. 15 minutes after arriving we were briefed on safe etiquette (Cows do have big horns after all), bundled into the trailer and taken on our "Meet the Cows" excursion. What a collection of personalities these Cows have! You can get up close (but not too close, because horns) with the herd, and can pet the Calves if they happen to choose you. Harold is an absolute ham for affection, and got pets from just about everyone in our group. Plenty of opportunities to take photos and ask questions - Beth told us all about life on the farm, the Cows in their care, and the story of her quest to create the hands on experience we were at that day (the BBQ & Coo itself). Once we returned back to the front office, we were supplied with "everything we would need" for our date night, and we headed off to allocated places around the perimeter of the cow field, to settle down for a bite to eat. Beth wasnt kidding when she said everything we needed. We had chicken kebabs with veg, sausages, burgers, and marshmallows; along with citronella candles, a Bluetooth speaker for some music, a fire lighter, cutlery, glasses (reusable plastic that is), napkins, paper plates, and a meat thermometer - along with instructions on how to cook our meat. All of this was presented at our picnic spot, which was a bench and a picnic blanket under a small canvas shelter, cosy and quiet, with our small BBQ set up nearby. We stayed about 90 mins before heading back, but you'd actually get about 2 full hours if you hung out until it was time to leave. All in all we had a fantastic afternoon, and we are definitely planning to be back next year. We wish Beth and Jackson's all the best with their BBQ & Coo experience. I for one will be telling everyone I know to go give it a try 🙂
