My Granduncle used to be the Gamekeeper on this estate in the late 1960`s. He was from North Uist, where he was also Gamekeeper on the hunting estate of the Duke of Hamilton at Langass. There is a connection with Rudolf Hess here, Hess met the Duke of Hamilton during the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936. Both Keen pilots, so much so that Hess knew the Duke had a landing strip on his estate at Hamilton near Glasgow. on the 10th of May 1941 Hess took off in an extended range aircraft to fly to Hamilton to meet with the Duke to try to end the war. His aircraft ran out of fuel and was arrested, sent to Maryhill police station in Glasgow then sent back to Germany to stand trial in after the war.
