Kyles of Bute — Attraction in Scotland

These two iconic narrow channels (kyles) separate Bute from the mainland and offer mostly sheltered sailing with plenty of opportunities to practice your tacking and gybing. at their head is a bouyd channel beside the burnt isles that can be a bit of a challenge with a 5kn tidal race at its peak, so its worth planning your passage between the west and east Kyle near to slack water for an easy passage. the scenery is specular and look out for the two rocks painted to look like the maids of Bute at the head of the east kyle waiting for their fisher men to return.
