A really well-designed public engagement centre, teaching the general public about the seas and species that live within them as well as the ocean research that is conducted. It is free to enter (donations were requested and should be given in my opinion!?) with ample car parking, making it a good option to drop in if the weather is bad or moving on from Oban. The exhibits mix different engagement techniques (from self-exploration to videos to hands on lab activities to colouring in) to seek to engage and cater for all ages and...

Interesting and informative well worth a combined trip to the castle. The displays made us think and engaged the kids. Added highlight was a lovely lunch at the attached beach cafe. Worth the drive for the menu that will cater for kids and adults at a very affordable price. 10 minutes from Oban. Worth the trip for a better quality lunch at half the price. The view is great too. Lovely ladies will cater for your kids 'not quite menu' requests. When my wife popped to powder her nose they even offered to heat up her...

A great find as we drove past in the way into Oban yesterday so we made a point of stopping on our way back out. It was free to visit but they ask kindly if you make a donation (which we did). As it's the summer holiday they had an Orca trail on for the children which on completion they were awarded a chocolate fish. All in all, a small visitors centre with plenty to fill an hour (toilets and a cafe too).
