Loved it here . Fascinating place, gorgeous location. The man and lady who run the place are absolutely lovley ,so friendly ,helpful and so informative. We learnt so much about the sea life and history of the area. We loved that the fish pop up as if saying hello, they're used to being fed by humans so come to us. The thornback Ray was probably my favourite but the dog fish were quite amazing too. I didn't know that conger eels lived in the Irish Sea either. So many different fish to see. We went for a lovley little walk to the old boathouse , ( would bring a picnic next time, so many lovley spots along the coast of Port logan to enjoy the veiw) we were lucky enough to see a kestrel when walking back to the lovley little gift shop that has souvenirs for all budgets . ( also sells sea fishing stuff ). We went into the bathing hut and saw the ladies swimming pool, could imagine the victorian ladies going down the steps carved from the rock, into the sea water pool. Just a few minutes around the coast from the fish pond the beach at port logan is a lovley little sandy beach that's quite easily accessible. Highly recommend a visit if...
Read moreI've given this place a five with great pleasure , I get really excited about anything nature ,history and people with a passion for what they do and how they live .the question is this would you visit fishponds ? If you are an angler the answer is yes ,you can purchase a good selection of tackle here and can see your target species of fish at very close quarters,if your an inquisitive youngster you would leave wanting to come back again and again because you fed monsters of the sea ,and finally as a parent you witnessed your children exited and enjoying it all wanting to know more .I asked the owners if I could have a shot at trying to catch some of the fish on rod and line 😂 lol don't ask you will with a smile get a resounding no ,at a small fee you will have an hour or so of pleasure and some knowledgeable and friendly people to chat to ,enjoy your day .the owners are so lucky to have such a great place to live...
Read moreThis is pretty much unique, with a long history attached. Worth the money to hear about how it came about and evolved into what can be seen today. The fish are important actors in the story and certainly expect to be fed by anyone walking beside them. The big pond is filled from the sea and the original cave houses tanks with smaller fish and crustations and starfish. The attendant is a skilful storyteller and makes the whole history of the place interesting. Don't forget the bathing house with its own outdoor pool is also worth a look. We spent about an hour there, we saw the pool being refilled, the fish fed and all the side tanks explained as to their inhabitants. The entrance is through a rough parking area with a toilet and along a rough track to a small parking area beside the building. no parking bays but enough space for several cars to...
