Absolutely loved this place. If you turn off the B999 and head towards Ythsie, a short distance along the road you will see a small car park on the left hand side (or using your sat nav - this postcode should take you right there AB41 7LS). once parked up and now on foot, take the farm road to the left of the car park and follow it until you see a wooden sign with a small badge saying "Prop of Ythsie", turn right up there and follow the path all the way to the top, it does get quite muddy after heavy rain. It takes about 15 mins to reach the tower, but it's all worth it when you eventually get there. Next a quick climb up the spiral staircase to the top of the tower, then you will be stunned by the most amazing views and just how peaceful it is up there. I have visited lots of these towers (or Follys as they are also known) and this has to be one of the best. It appears to be open all year...

Good walk and stunning views. There is a good car park close by, about 250metres off the B999 and is easily seen on your left as you drive up the road.

Car Park has quite a lot of pot holes, but ok if you take it carefully. The route is well maintained and easy to follow, it can get muddy / slippy underfoot as you walk amongst the trees, but with the right footwear it will be ok.

Quite a steep climb as you come out of the trees, and walk through the fields, staying close to the stone wall.

The prop is a Grade C listed building, dating back to mid 1800’s and is still in good repair. Worth taking time to walk to the top of the prop, but be careful as the steps can be slippy with water and bird droppings.

The views from the top are amazing, remember and take your binoculars...

Lovely find, definitely worth a visit. It's lost in between fields so access is difficult. Sat Nav will guide you through an earth path. It's usable with a small car but be careful that your car is not too low or it will touch in the middle. The path is used by tractors etc... we drove all the way to the bottom of the grass path. Google will let you believe it's accessible by car but it's not. I left my car at the bottom, parked up on the grass so not to block access to the earth path. After it's a few minutes walk up a fairly steep hill. You can say hi to the cows on the way 😁.

The stairs in the tower are very steep and narrow so be careful but the view from the top is absolutely breathtaking! I wouldn't recommend taking young children unless they are...
