Dumfries House has never disappointed, there is always something to see. My personal favourite time of year is Autumn, when the leaves are changing colour. It had been a couple of months since I last visited & I wasn't disappointed, a walk around the gardens washed all the stress out of me & set me up for a coffee & scone (have the prices changed, upwards?). There was a lot of work being carried out in the gardens but the perssonel were very pleasant & were always available for advice on the plants & gardens in general. To conclude the only real way to appreciate the house & gardens is to get their & see it for yourself. I nearly forgot, the Princes Trust saved Dumfries House & Gardens, from a downward spiral. It is also very much involved in education & training. I haven't studied this side of the charity so I cannot really comment on the facilities. It would be remice of me not to note that there are a number of other charities involved in the development of the facilities, and to gain an understanding of the overall facilities a visit to the website...

We lived in Scotland for 14 years and for some reason, we never visited Dumfries House. It is an oversight I am pleased to say I have now rectified. It's a beautiful location with lovely and varied walks as well as stunning gardens. There is a play area for kids but I suspect adults would get a bit more from the experience. Having said that, a day is ultimately what you make it. For my retirement, I'd love to just spend the day there, reading a good book in the glorious and peaceful surroundings.

All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming, from gardeners to the staff in the tea room. The food wasn't the cheapest I've ever encountered but it was very good quality. When I'm next in Scotland, I will definitely be going...

This is a shockingly beautiful garden. Make sure you pay at the gate or the gift shop before you go, it is well worth it. It is more than just a beautiful garden but also a educational and skills training facility. The variety and density of plant life is staggering. It is well arranged and manicured. I am no green thumb by any means but I highly enjoyed my time here. It is breathtaking! My daughter continually gasped at all the amazing...

Lovely gardens just a pity we weren't there a little later to really see them in full bloom. Great educational garden area for children too "field to fork" will hopefully get back in the summer to see them at their best. There's a small entrance fee of £3. Tickets can be purchased in the visitor centre in advance. There also appears to be a tearoom in the gardens which was closed but it was midweek when we visited and not in peak season.

The gardens were so amazing. Haven’t been able to visit in years, as we visit from Canada. We’ve visited Dumfries many times and always enjoy the walks and sights, the restaurants has always been beyond amazing to experience. Thankfully we were able to enjoy this today for the first time, the gardens were spectacular, couldn’t be happier. Thankful for the opportunity and experience, hope you all win the awards !!
