Nice wee gem tucked out of the way practically on our door step. Very well maintained estate with loads of different trails to go. The bird watching cabins are fun to spot the wildlife out at the water etc. We only got to see a small part in the couple of hours we were there but will be back for sure. One thing I did want to say was that the RSPB fella that was doing some work in the car park was incredibly friendly and helpful to us, pointed out some good places to go and was very chatty with our youngest. Was really nice to see genuinely nice people who...

RSPB Baron's Haugh is a stunning sanctuary for nature lovers. Its picturesque landscape offers a plethora of exploration opportunities, from a captivating 17th-century graveyard to charming gardens and river-side walkways. While the castle remains off-limits, the abundance of bird hides promises delightful encounters with local wildlife. Early morning visits reward with enchanting sightings of wandering deer. Dalzell and Barons Haugh come highly recommended for a serene and immersive...

Just love coming down here early in the morning wonderful sun rise over the watery marsh land. The bird hides give shelter and annonimity if you are interested in looking at a variety of some wonderful feathered species. If your lucky the wild deer are never too far away and you can pick up their tracks on the pathways. A 15 minute walk into Strathclyde Park in one direction the other takes you into Dalziel Estate with Dalziel House, the Curling Rink, Japanese Gardens and the...

It is an absolutely beautiful place for a walk. As well as the lovely scenery there are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. There is a lovely graveyard dating from the 17th century, a mausoleum, gardens, a walkway along the river Clyde and various bird hides. The castle itself is huge however it is private and you cannot go in. I would highly recommend Dalzell and Barons Haugh. If you head down early in the morning there are always plenty of deer wandering around.

Wonderful peaceful place to go for a walk and take in some nature. This area is my go to place locally for walking the dogs, pathways are extensive and mixed, in relatively good condition (although some eroded by River Clyde) and currently there is obviously some work going on to provide markers and new information boards. If visiting please take your litter with you, I often see volunteers cleaning it up which they shouldn’t have to.

It’s now so difficult to walk around the RSPB should be ashamed of the management It’s no longer meant for humans The river is being allowed (as it’s cheaper) to flow through the reserve taking with it pedestrian access The marsh hide is now so far away from the water it’s impossible to see close up and wild fowl ! This used to be a favourite Kingfisher roost and an area where they would feed , not any more!
