Great sculptures in the garden, dating back to 1828 so I understand. That was the best bit. The whole NTS property is now a dedicated gallery and shop (except for a tiny section on the Souter Johnnie aspect). Whilst the NTS website isn't factually inaccurate, it is misleading and exaggerated the Souter Johnnie aspects - the gallery takes over and spoiled the experience for us. I do now understand that this new strategy was changed in 2016 due to declining visitor numbers, but I'm afraid it wasn't for us, the NTS website could be more transparent and explained this in advance rather than upon visiting.

I enjoyed this. The museum part is just a few statues in the barn but the artist in residence, Elspeth Guhries, is very informative about the museum and the village. Well worth visit & her paintings are beautiful too.

Only a little place, but the gallery it houses had some very impressive art, jewellery and gifts by local artists. Don't forget to visit the alehouse at the rear.

Always amazing. Ashamed to say it has taken me years to write this. Our most recent visit was after landing from flying from Australia. Kid was not in a good way after the trip being over tired and super hungery. Front of house Staff went far out of their way to help calm the child and get them to eat. Greatly appreciated - as was the epic service and portion of pancakse with bacon and ice-cream on the return drive to the airport two weeks later! Thank you and see you...

A guide with enthusiasm for her work welcomed us into the cottage. We chatted about the history of the cottage, its occupants and how old and new is bring brought together with displays of artwork from local artists. The cottage is well worth a visit whether you are a Burns enthusiast or not, you will take some new knowledge...
