Really interesting place for a visit. I've tried to catch it at the right time on several occasions. Check the hours of opening before going. It is open two days but the Smith is only in the Sunday. We caught him in and it was well worth the time. He has a huge amount of knowledge on the place and the skills. He was happy to talk, we only just managed to get there ahead of closing (4pm). Had a great time when we visited. The atmosphere, smoke and sounds are so evocative and everything so original. The team there brought the history alive and were clearly passionate about the craft. The local history was fascinating. We learned a lot and the age and engineering of the beam drill and bellows was very cool. Better still we got to have a go on these as well as seeing them in use. Really nice to see heritage crafts and skills being kept alive. Everyone was was very welcoming and warm. Nice wee shop with items from the forge as well as...
