A lovely wee place - we arrived just after midday so had a very tasty lunch in the cafe at the entrance, which is also where you buy your tickets for the museum. After the lunch, we paid the bill and bought the museum entry and spent a long time looking at the exhibits on every floor.

All very nicely laid out to walk you through everything. Plenty of exhibits showing just how hard and basic life was in the area. Also met Rob, the friendly owner, who was happy to stand and chat and tell us how he came to own it from his family, and the work it's taken in the last 40 years to renovate and open as the museum it is now.

We left after that but not before buying up a couple of scones from the cafe to have at home later - and they also were delicious.

This place is a real labour of love and enthusiasm, and it shows. Well...

A unique and beautiful museum, in a very picturesque location, started by a family descended from millers whose working mill this once was. The building and the mill itself, including the working wheel, has been lovingly restored by the family and the enterprise is now run by a trust, still with major family involvement. There is a wonderful tearoom with delicious freshly cooked food. Cakes to die for. There's a very special exhibition of Japanese kimonos on just now - these are glorious in design, colour and workmanship. Staff are fabulous, very knowledgeable and helpful, especially Chris, a young family member recently graduated from uni, who clearly loves the place and...

Had lunch at The Millers Kitchen coffee shop. Would highly recommend it. Prices very reasonable, varied menu for small or larger appetites! Home baking delicious! Access via ramp for those with mobility issues plenty of parking near to the foor and in the car parking area. Did not visit museum on this occasion however it is a gem and well worth spending time there, followed by a cuppa. Only one comment, there was little or no heating, which detracted from what would have been 5 stars! Everything freshly made salad accompaniment and coleslaw delicious. Well done, Dalgarven Mill and Museum Millwheel was turning great for...

This wonderful little museum was a terrific surprise. The exhibits are all very interesting, especially due to the uncommonly charming, detailed and anecdote-rich explanatory texts that accompany them. But the best thing about this place, really, are the proprietors. They are deeply expert on everything they have on display and have a true passion for antiques and their curation. The coffee shop also has truly outstanding yet reasonably priced pies and cakes, which draw regular local customers. Seriously, this one will exceed your expectations.

What a hidden gem! Much larger than you think it's going to be and packed full of interesting items. The period dresses are incredible and more accessible than in a regular museum, and there are a thousand objects from every aspect of rural domestic and work life. We were lucky to be greeted by the curator and owner who told us interesting stories about how the place and its contents came to be. We even got to see how the mill wheel turned and the intact mechanism on the inside of the building. Very much worth a visit!

It was such a lovely day out. The owner gave us an introduction to the museum. 3 floors upwards with costumes and about life. downwards information on the renovation of the mill and how the mill worked. We also had some amazing, freshly baked scones in the cafe. Everybody was just so lovely! The museum has steep stairs, so if you are with a pram, you will need to leave it downstairs, but the cafe has 2 high chairs.
