We accessed the walk to the stone from Vaul. If you follow the road through Vaul it terminates in a small carpark. Then head downhill towards the little bay, look to the left and you’ll see a style over a fence which you’ll need to negotiate to access the path. The path is unmarked and rough and boggy in places, but follow the coastline. The Vaul Broch is a point of interest on the way (about 10 mins into the walk). After you pass the Broch, you’ll need to clamber under a loose fence but it looks like many have gone before, there’s no other way past it seems. The loose part is at the far right corner where the fence meets the rocks on the coastline (picture for reference). The walk takes approximately 1 hour 20 mins at a reasonable pace and is very pleasant, mainly flat with nice views of the sea. The stone is fairly prominent sitting on a sandy bay and is completely out of place to its surroundings so should be obvious

A fascinating place, and an intriguing phenomenon - though its the story of people using it thousands of years ago that really takes the biscuit! It's an easy walk to get there, but the signage to the parking and path are a bit obscured now (several having fallen over). The biggest obstacle is navigating 3 sheep fields (and be wary of those tups!) on the way over, but it's definitely worth the effort.

Deep indents in the stone are worth noting. The ring can be heard if you bang it with a heavy stone (plenty around). The walk is gorgeous but can be boggy. The stars are for the walk not the stone (after all boulder is a boulder).

A bit of a walk out to the stone but it was worth it. Path is beside the house at Rockvale but it not clear which path to follow after going through the gate. It took me about 40mins to walk there. There is a small board telling you about the stone and you can see it behind the board. Make sure you hit the rock to hear the...
