We had a fantastic family day out at the Scottish Deer Centre, and it truly exceeded our expectations. Entry was based on a discretionary donation, which felt like great value, especially considering the quality of the experience. For those who wanted a more interactive visit, there was also the option to purchase feed for the deer at the entrance.
The centre is home to a wide variety of deer species, all clearly well cared for in spacious, well-maintained enclosures that allowed for plenty of roaming. Beyond the deer, the park also featured other animals such as a bear, lynx, Scottish wildcat, goats, donkeys, and an impressive collection of birds of prey, including falcons and hawks. It was a real treat for animal lovers.
The grounds themselves were beautifully laid out, with a lovely treetop walk via a charming wooden bridge and numerous play areas to keep the children engaged for hours. From mini zip lines and trampolines to a sandpit, swing sets, and a boat racing area — there was something for all ages.
A particularly fun highlight for the kids was the display of vintage vehicles scattered throughout the park, including an old warplane, tractors, a boat, and a miniature steam train. Another hit was the quirky food truck cleverly converted from an old bomb disposal vehicle, serving up tasty treats like freshly made mini doughnuts — an instant favourite with the little ones.
The only downside to an otherwise brilliant day was an unfortunate encounter at a crepe food truck. Despite clearly still serving another customer, the staff turned us away just as our excited kids ran up, which was disappointing — especially since it could’ve easily been avoided with a little more consideration.
Aside from that small hiccup, the visit was thoroughly enjoyable, and we would highly recommend the Scottish Deer Centre for a fun, engaging, and...
Read moreAn absolutely stunning family day out. A beautiful setting and a real treat. From the second we step foot inside this place the staff were amazing, helpful, welcoming, kind and went out their way to make our day enjoyable. The cafe is reasonably priced and delicious food, cakes and treats. There was so much to do, we arrived around midday and didn’t get around everything. There’s heaps of benches if you want to take your own picnic, parking is free. Deer food is £3.50 a bag and serves plenty, although the deer were so lovely we bought several bags as we enjoyed feeding them so much! We had a buggy and had no trouble with that at all. The day is filled with plenty for all interests: the birds of prey which we enjoyed observing and learning about, plus a display at 1 where we enjoyed an amazing display of three different birds by a well informed and knowledgeable, friendly trainer who made it interesting for all ages. There’s so many deer! We walked around twice and caught different ones in different moods throughout. The bears really showed off for us which was a highlight. We didn’t catch the wolves but that leaves us something to go back for another time. There’s reptiles and nature information, there’s a stunning tree top walk and plenty of play areas, jumping pillows, inside slide and zip wire and a soft play area inside too. There’s a play area in the woodland too so if it rains there’s lots to get on with. Not forgetting the highland cows, cutest donkeys, goats and otters! Honestly I don’t know what we were expecting but we were so impressed! It was such a memorable day out,...

Fantastic outdoor adventure, the kids absolutely love being able to feed the Animals as well as having all the equipment to play on. There's so much to do here that you'll easily spend the whole day.
I love that as you leave the entrance you've got the small indoor softplay, then you have the outdoor play area in the old barn, it looked like it had been turned into an Arcade on our last visit though, adjacent to this is an indoor flying fox and big slide. When you exit you walk out to an old bus, the outdoor play areas and the path leading to the animals.
Once you've passed through that you then find yourself at the amazing tree rop walk up, it's just amazing. Once you come down there's the bears, a nice little walk passed various animals and this leads to another outdoor play park again the kids love it. Plenty to do even at this point to keep them happy.
Once you leave this area you'll find the huge outdoor sandpit, sadly closed on our last visit, but parallel to this is the miniature gauge train, which does a small loop but looks fun. After that there are the old tractors, fire engine and I think it's an Avro Vulcan too!
By this point you're probably ready to go home and the little ones are shattered so the exit is not far in front of you.
And it's, see you next time Scottish Deer centre!
Brilliant place good fun loads to do, have a picnic, play...
