Today my friend took us to the Roman fort trimontium out at Melrose to see the fort that was dug up years ago but covered up again... On a good day you can see the out line of the rds and buildings ..... Beautiful walk on country lanes and a very impressive viaduct that's unbelievable the size of it .... definitely do this walk...

Driven past Leaderfoot Viaduct numerous times, this time we headed there to have a look. The Roman Fort site is close by. Its gone now and just fields and the remains of a grass amphitheatre. Lots of information boards around and a stone with a bit of info on it. If you're passing it is worth a look on a nice day.

There was not a lot to really see here. It was an easy enough walk up to the remaining monument, however much of what you see is just the surrounding farmland that once was a Roman fort. Aside from the monument and a few plaques, there isn’t much to look at here

Sadly we were in Melrose a week too early for the new museum so stopped instead at the site of the fort. It's not well signposted from the town but we found it via a map. Whilst nothing visible remains, good information boards could have allowed you to imagine or visualise what had been. There were a few such boards but many a bit worn out and neglected. Also the hedges were overgrown so it wasn't as easy to see much. It is a unique and amazing place but you could learn more via the drone footage on YouTube. We'll be back when the...
