This is the real secret garden, hidden behind a high brick wall and tended and brought back to life by Charlotte Wemyss. The garden favors towering, tumbling masses of roses and clematis, the latter of which we mostly unfortunately missed, coming as we did in mid June. The roses though were in their glory in every form a rose can take, but most spectacularly in cascades from the high walls of the garden. The fragrance was otherworldly. Charlotte graciously and unpretentiously shared her knowledge and love of plants and animals, including her dogs and her koi, Whiskers, who has lived in her garden since she first began to restore it in the early 1990s.
