Great place, open and a vast area to discover. Egrets, Widgeon, Grey Geese, Canadians, Tufted Ducks, Coots, Moorhens, Swans, Sandpipers, Lapwing, Snipe, Oyster Catchers. Others too, but unsure what they were. A portaloo only by the start, so it's not like Leighton Moss for facilities but a great day out.. but please dog walkers, pick the poo up, like playing hopscotch getting around. Bloody disgraceful......

Beautiful nature reserve on the Southport coastline, but away from the hustle and bustle of the promenade and tourist attractions. Lovely peaceful walks, with loads of bird-life to see. Whilst there I saw a pair of little egrets, gulls and on the way there, a marsh harrier. Car-park is pay and display and for 3hrs and over is £3. Anything under is £1.50.

One of the unique site where migrating Birds gather and sit for few days on way , the place is well fenced and made out of reach of other creatures so that these beautiful animals don't get Disturbed , A brilliant effort to keep the equillibrium in eco system, watching those birds living freely is a spectacular feeling.

Nice little spot, not really many birds to see from the car park but lots of walking options. One thing that marred it were irresponsible dog owners letting dog after dog to run off their lead to race through the undergrowth. One pair of ducks got chased and chased, we were there two or three times during April when they were obviously trying to settle to a nest. You might think well they are only ducks, but all nesting birds have protection, just sad some dog owners think their dogs...

Quiet car park midweek. Parking meter doesn't work. It failed to scan my membership card and it failed to accept card payment. The hide on Marine Drive has lots of seating but looks into the sun so difficult to see across the marsh. Better to walk around the footpath on the other side. Waders and water fowl much closer and in abundance mixed in with salt marsh grazing cattle! Associated site at Hesketh Bank is also very good. Peregrine, Kestrel and Marsh Harrier seen here. Also...

Not many birds to see on the regular visits we have made, for a place by the sea to walk our dogs. Fresh air and nice light with views of Blackpool and Southport. The sea is often along way out with the sands exposed for walking. Wellington Boots are recommended. The first mile of so is dry on an improved path. Not too busy most of the time. Depends what you want but there are better places for bird watchers. Not many risks for children but the mud...
