Castle Farm, nestled in the picturesque village of Shoreham near Sevenoaks, Kent, holds a rich and storied history dating back centuries. Situated on Redmans Lane, Castle Farm is a working family farm that has become a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike.

The farm's origins can be traced back to medieval times when it served as part of the estate belonging to the Archbishop of Canterbury. Over the centuries, it passed through various hands before being acquired by the Roberts family in the early 1900s. Under their stewardship, Castle Farm evolved into a thriving agricultural enterprise, specializing in arable farming and fruit cultivation.

Today, Castle Farm is renowned for its lavender fields, which bloom in vibrant shades of purple during the summer months, creating a stunning spectacle that draws visitors from far and wide. The farm's lavender has become synonymous with the area, and Castle Farm has earned a reputation as one of the leading producers of lavender products in the UK.

In addition to its lavender fields, Castle Farm is also home to a range of other crops, including apples, pears, and hops. The farm's diverse agricultural offerings reflect its commitment to sustainable farming practices and preserving the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Castle Farm has also diversified its business to include a farm shop, café, and visitor center, where visitors can learn about the farm's history and agricultural practices. The farm shop sells a range of locally sourced produce, including fresh fruits and vegetables, artisanal cheeses, and homemade preserves, while the café serves delicious meals made with ingredients sourced directly from the farm.

Throughout the year, Castle Farm hosts a variety of events and activities, including guided tours, workshops, and seasonal festivals. From lavender harvesting demonstrations to apple picking adventures, these events offer visitors a chance to experience the magic of farm life and connect with the land.

Castle Farm's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship is evident in everything it does. The farm employs eco-friendly farming practices, such as crop rotation and natural pest control, to minimize its impact on the environment and promote biodiversity. It also invests in renewable energy sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, to reduce its carbon footprint.

As Castle Farm continues to thrive and evolve, it remains a cherished part of the local community, offering a glimpse into Kent's rich agricultural heritage and providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Whether you're strolling through the lavender fields, sampling fresh produce in the farm shop, or simply enjoying a cup of tea in the café, Castle Farm is a place where memories are made and traditions are preserved for...

See my review under 'Castle Farm shop' adjacent on the site.. .....same review applies likewise to Lavender Farm. Excellent A1, 10/10. 👍👏 Chris. Revisted LAVENDER FARM, CASTLE FARM, REDMANS LANE, SHOREHAM, KENT on Wednesday 13/7/22. What a beautiful spectacle at this panoramic Farm, surely one of the most beautiful farms in the U.K.🇬🇧👍 The lavender in full bloom to its maximum best, and plenty of visitors here to witness and enjoy. Events were going on at the time of visit. My wife and Mother-in- law taken aback and impressed with the display. I personally wish Sally and Ella all the very best in the future here at the farm. Thanks ever so much Ella for the apple 🍎 drink, your lavender 💜 ice cream a very first for me - thoroughly enjoyed the two tubs I purchased - unforgettable....bless you Sweetheart ❤. My well wishes too the young gentleman ( sorry didn't catch your name..from the I.O.W. ?) on the garlic stall, I will remember the vinegar flavoured garlic for cooking recipes. You had so much variation and choice regarding garlic food products...never realised so many. All the best Sally with your fine varied lavender products and jewellery stall...spoilt for choice. My final praise to the owner and all the staff here at the Lavender Farm / Castle Farm hops shop, SHOREHAM, Kent. This Farm tops in my view as one of the very best in the U.K. 🇬🇧, and shows how good what our U.K. farmers produce through their dedicated hard work 24/7 all four seasons. Love and best regards to all here at the farm, so pleased we made our two visits - 23/6/22 and today 13/7/22. CHRIS.👍👍👍👍👍🚜 ps.see you...

Had to drive 2 hours to come here and I'm so glad I did. The lavender was beautiful and the air was filled with its lovely scent. It was relaxing to just walk amongst the fields and take photos or whatever. There were plenty of families here so it's a great place for a family day out. The only let down was there was a lot of dog poo everywhere, I wish the dog owners could be more considerate, so be careful when you are about in the fields. We bought tickets online beforehand but I saw people buying them on the spot. Car parking was OK but I can imagine it might can get quite busy and full. Toilets were available around the back near the shops. They had a small drinks and snacks stand in the field, the ice cream was delicious and at 2.50 was a total bargain compared to the ludicrous prices other places are charging for a tub half the size. I went to the farm shops after the field, they are selling all sorts of lavender based products, but I opted to fill my stomach instead, the baked goods were amazing, but the cranberry and cheese bagel really made my day, that alone was worth the drive.

We arrived about 15 minutes before opening and were pleasantly surprised to find the gate already open and a friendly steward ready to direct us to a parking spot. The lavender fields themselves are beautifully maintained and protected by a wooden fence. You can book a lavender picnic or a walk through the fields although I highly recommend booking in advance as many dates are fully booked. There is a seating area specifically for disabled guests (if they need to queue at any point) which was a lovely touch. The main shop offered a great variety of products, including a dedicated gluten-free section. There were also a couple of small stalls from local sellers. Outside, you can enjoy a pot of lavender ice cream (plus other flavours), which was a unique treat. The atmosphere was relaxed and dog-friendly. A really lovely experience overall, will definitely visit again!
