So we bought a book on short walks in Dorset and one of them was Badbury rings. When we got to the West car park (main one) we noticed that there was a direct "Rings" walk, much shorter and bustling with walkers, which we did. We also went on a longer circular walk, out past the oak woods past a farm and back down through the countryside. Sadly we came out at the smaller East car park. The last part of the walk from this car park to the West (main) car park was parallel to the very busy road, spoilt by traffic. Even though we walked on the grassy sides of this road it would have been great if the National Trust created a footpath in the adjacent field to screen the view and sounds of the traffic. This walk was easy, pretty and only 3miles from start to finish and complimented the short walk to the rings (map in car park). It was a clear day and we could see the Isle of Wight cliffs from the top...
Read moreNice place need the weather though there is a wood in the centre which surprised me and a pond. Lovely views and a great place for a picnic and kids to fly a kite parking is national trust other wise if not a member take some change or or cc. Road leading up to parking has some fantastic potholes beware. They was trying to fill them in the day we visited. There is also a Ballard in middle of access road at first not visited before didn't think I was in right place so maybe a better sign. You can get a car or small van through it. Well worth a day out. No toilets on site so be warned also there is a few cow pat's about so watch...

(Pay by Phone Ap required if the machine is broke like it was on our visit) Mind you, it is a National Trust site so its free for you guys! All the dog walkers in the area go there by all accounts. There are Bronze Age barrows to the right of the car park too (visible on the LiDAR image as mounds at the left of frame). I make LiDAR animations so attached is the Bradbury Rings via LiDAR. (@mrtedgfx Instagram page for more) and a wider context image showing the location of the long abandoned Roman town of Vindocladia and the Spetisbury Rings Iron...
