A.C.E Target Sports Skye — Attraction in Skye

Wow, if we could have stayed on Skye longer, we would have turned right around and come back for another archery lesson at A.C.E. the next day. Honestly, I think we had more fun here than any of the other hikes and tourist attractions we visited on Skye.

Steve was our extremely knowledgeable, calm, and funny instructor. Two of our party were novices, and he explained what to do so clearly and simply that everyone was doing it right and hitting the target from the very first arrow. Their policy of reserving the lesson just for your personal party is wonderful -- you get one-on-one attention from the instructor, and only your friends and family witness your embarrassing whiffs. :) We arrived early and Steve was happy to get us started right away so we could have a few extra minutes to shoot. After a few basic target practices, you get to play some different games and compete (lightly) against your other party members. Do be prepared for a little light teasing -- it's all in fun! If you haven't shot a bow before, it's very satisfying, and the bows they use are quite nice to handle, plus I think they teach excellent technique. Bring your kids -- our twelve-year-old who'd never shot before mopped the floor with us.

And yes, their dogs are calm, friendly,...

We tried clay shooting, both as first timers, and were expertly coached through every step of the way by Matt. From start to finish, this was a joyful experience. From their initial welcome sat around the campfire with their three dogs, to the actual shooting itself, everything was 10/10.

Feeling safe, entertained and increasingly confident thanks to Matt’s coaching, we did not want to leave. Matt himself was just great to spend time with, he even gave us a lift back to town as it was raining (Don’t walk there from the town centre guys)!

All in all, we cannot wait to go back when we eventually...

We met Matt at the Clan Donald visitor information and headed off for some clay pigeon shooting, my wife was a little apprehensive as she had never fired a gun before but she had a great time as did I.

Matt was fantastic with great instruction and encouragement throughout and is a great guy to talk to. We had limited time or we would have been doing some of the other activities like axe throwing or archery.

This was one of the most fun activities from our 5 week European vacation and I highly recommend anyone who is staying near the Isle of Skye or even passing through consider spending some time at Armadale Activities.

I'm looking forward to our next trip to the Isle of Skye!
