This place is a misunderstanding and presents problems for everyone involved.
I found this beach on TripAdvisor and took attention to the positive reviews which highlight this place as some sort of tropical retreat and planned the journey. I arrived here with a few family members on a nice summer's day hoping for a pleasant beach experience and instead had cut short our tour of Scotland by one day as we spent the entire day in the car.
The lack of proper infrastructure on this part of Skye meant we had to squeeze through miles of tight, one way, dirt roads to get here and as we were nearing the beach 'car park' we were stuck in impassable line of cars in front and behind us with no visible way through or out.
When in this congestion, we had farmers and residents trying to control traffic and direct other people away as the very small car park was extremely full and those in it couldn't drive out. The residents explained that this happens very frequently and they are fed up of the amount of tourists coming to this small location.
Unfortunately I did not see the coral beach and perhaps it may be beautiful, but in my experience, a trip from the east Scottish highlands here was a grave misjudgement and unfortunate experience. Going forward, if it is possible, I advise the residents who quite clearly have plenty of open land there, to setup car parks of their own and charge desperate beach goers for parking. This will allow and opportunity for residents to make money and save the day for many tourists as clearly the demand to visit this place is very high.
However, in its current state I highly advise you to not make the effort...

This place is a nightmare to park, there are very few spaces, there is no turning point at the back, so if you go in and don't find spaces you need to reverse out. Essentially you need to be ready to queue in your car on the one way road, but making sure that the people coming out can leave so that you can park. Luckily the people around when we arrived were decent, we all queued in an orderly fashion, no on tried to cut, and we only had to wait about 10-15 minutes until someone left. The turnover is rather high so you shouldn't be waiting too long, just be ready to have a person telling other cars behind you to wait and keep going up and down to see if anyone is leaving.
If someone who owns the car park bothers to read this, just make this pay and display as most of the other big tourist points in Skye are. Raise some funds and then either hire somone to help with the flow of traffic as is done at the fairy pools car park, or do something so that people can at least turn around...
Read moreThe car park is not a 'car park as such, it is a place to leave your car but is just some space at the end of the single track road. Uneven surface and pot holes and if people park in considerately then you might struggle to get parked.
We had to wait in a passing place outside of the car park for about 30 mins before we got in (3 cars in front of us and a few behind) and one of the local residents came walking up and down waving her arms about asking 'what are you waiting for?'
Anyway after all of this there is a 1 mile walk to the beach, beach is fantastic but only small, I wouldn't have missed it. Oh and it's not sand its like crushed up shells that look like coral (not sure if it is or not) and crystal...
