This is a beautiful scenic path for everyone to enjoy. Coming from Derby toward Etwall there is a fractional decline of -0.5, with a tail wind over the 7 mile stretch it’s possible to get up to quite a speed. Plenty of wildlife to see, pheasants, rabbits, crows, magpies and squirrels. I like to ride it early in the morning it’s not to busy and the nature is at its peak during the sunrise. In the afternoons it can get busy with footfall, and I tend to find in the afternoons the winds can pick up a lot. Always important for cyclists to slow down and give safe warning to other path users, especially dog walkers as some dogs can be skittish around bicycles. There are rolling green fields either side and some beautiful scenery to take in, so take it slow and absorb the English countryside in all its glory. We are very lucky to have such a bridle way that is so well maintained for public use.

First time ever, that we took this route. Drove past it for many years and kept promising myself I'd walk it. Although it does actually span 350 miles right upto Berwick on Tweed (don't think I'll be walking that far). Wish we'd have set off earlier and got to Etwall so we could nip in at the Seven Wells for a cheeky one, all be it there is the Great Northern on the way back that do a gorgeous hot chocolate Xx Can't wait to do it again Xx

Love this path. Perfect for dog walking/cycling. Nice and peaceful. Very nice on a summers evening when all the trees are full.

Lots of moaning on here, mostly from dog owners, about cyclists. It's a national cycle route ( No 54) for goodness sake, but I find it useless as such because of poo-headed people with loose dogs - often in packs. These characters wilfully ignore a bell or other warning, apparently thinking it exists for their sole benefit. Fair give and take I'm all for, but what's the use of a cycle route where you can't make reasonable (and safe) progress because of others' selfishness? If you don't want to accommodate cyclists then use a footpath for...

Quite a pleasant and flat walk along the former Great Northern railway line.

Not an awful lot to see (besides the former railway station for Mickleover and Radbourne and evidence of the British Rail testing days) but very accessible to all and great for families, dog walkers and cyclists.

Shame a lot of the former line (on the pub side of Station Road) has been infilled/built upon as it would've been nice to be able to walk along the route into...
