This is one of the more pricier farms I've been to however it is more than worth the price. We went with 3 adults and 2 children (aged 3 and 11) and we ALL thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There is sooo much to do, I would advise getting there early to make the most of it! I won't give to much away because I don't want to spoil it for anyone planning on visiting but some highlights for us were bottle feeding the baby goats, piggy races and grooming the ponies - all of which are included in the entrance price! Some other fab things included are a mini train ride (adults are allowed on with smaller children/babies), tractor ride and the animals handling area 😍 we absolutely loved this area and got to hold mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, baby goats and piglets! - it's not 100% necessary but it's preferable that you purchase a mini blanket for handling the animals from the gift shop (£3 each)... One of the bunny's nibbled a few holes in the blanket 😂 ...at least it saved our clothes 🙌🏼👌🏼 It is a huge farm, there is free mini crazy golf, a lookout tower, a field you can get up and close with Shetland ponies, a inside area with inflatable slides, food area with lots of picnic bench type seating and lots more. You can buy animal feed from the front entrance or gift shop, and there is a couple of rides - like motorised ride ons that cost £1 a go, so a bag of £1 coins would be helpful if your children will want to go on those. The majority of things are included in the price though so don't panic if you don't have change because there is plenty to do! Next time we will probably take a picnic because it was quite expensive for food and drinks on site. It cost nearly £15 for 2 cans of drink, a cheese sandwich and a Cornish pasty. All were lovely but if you want to save some pennies then bring your own food and drinks 👍🏼 the gift shop was actually really reasonably priced which surprised me in comparison to other similar places. There is plenty of parking, the spots nearer the entrance are concrete based and the back flow car park is more field/gravel. All staff were super friendly and more than happy to stand for a chat when we asked for more information about the animals etc. We truly had such a brilliant day, I've already recommended it to many friends and I can't wait to go back in the...
Read moreHonestly, overall great day out. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. We had never been so we didn't follow schedule with the 30 minute activities and just wanted to look around/explore at our own pace! Fortunately we had a great deal and will be able to return (for free) between September and October, so we will follow the activities now we know what is where!!
We went for my little ones 1st birthday. There was also a 3 and 10 year old with us. Great for every age in our group. They loved the little rides. Animals were so cute and well looked after. They were used to human interaction. All animals had a nice amount of living space. Pet cuddles were very well monitored. The staff were very good. Very friendly and accommodating. This is unusual now I find!
Lots of parking, hand washing stations, toilets and options for food and drink. We went to the barn. Kids loved the bouncy castles and soft play!! My only downfall would be the little bit they had for young ones. My one year old loved it in there! - although pretty dirty and old, it was very very small. There wasn't much room for her to crawl around and older ones were running over her!!
Food in the barn was great. Me and my other half shared a pizza which was delicious and big enough for us both. We also had a cold drink each and packet of crisps. My little one had a little organic snack (she already had her lunch) and it came in over £22. Some may think that's expensive but I would pay a little more than that in Weatherspoons for much the same. Great options for little ones. Selection is good, hot & cold drinks, pasties, pizzas, cakes etc.
Play areas were great. Could purchase goat/sheep/deer feed at the entrance. Good price, however goats are very greedy so be sure to bring enough! Got my baby a teddy on our exit. Little Highland cow for £6.50. I wouldn't call that bad!!
Overall great day, looking forward to our return. Hopefully we get a better day and can bring a picnic, the views over the picnic area...
Read moreUpdate as of 15.12.2024 - We visited today for the magical Christmas experience and it was indeed just that, magical. This year the format of the day was slightly different than previous years and it was great! The change is definitely for the better and the order of events works brilliantly. My husband, daughter and I have had the best day and it really made us feel Christmassy. The new addition of the Christmas Village and all the photo opportunities and the option to purchase drinks, food, toasting marshmallows, using the park etc and having the free flow and being able to stay as long as you like after the nativity, animal cuddles and visiting Santa was just brilliant! Whoever thought of this deserves major brownie points. Excellent idea! We also loved all the cheeky elves that were hiding and playing whilst we waited for Santa. Another great idea to keep the kids (and adults) entertained. Elf Jeff who drove the tractor was also amazing. So funny and so lovely. Thank you everyone at Pennywell for making our visit one to remember.
Update as of 26.08.2024 - We came to the farm today for my daughter’s 9th birthday and we had an absolutely brilliant day! There is so much to do and see, it is so well organised and the staff are lovely. The animals are well looked after and happy. It’s a lovely family attraction and I highly recommend it to anyone with young children. The highlight for us was the animal cuddles as this is our favourite part but we thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and can’t wait to return. Thank you Chris and the Pennywell Farm team for a fab birthday day out :-)
