A gem of a nature reserve with wonderful views across the Thames Valley at the Goring Gap. Primarily open chalk downland, the reserve is surrounded by ancient Yew & deciduous woodland and thick hedges. The reserve is home to a very wide range of rare animals and plants.

Very very very steep path to the view point but worth the effort. We followed the path after the view point into the woods but I’d recommend going back to the rlverside as the inland paths take too long and there are not enough signs.

Quite steep slopes, you'll need proper walking footwear. Great views down the river valley. Good lot of flowers in late July, but even better in June when the orchids are out.

This was our 3rd visit to Hartslock (30th May 2023) & finally we timed it right for the Lady/Monkey orchids. Gorgeous.

Great spot at the top of the hill in the reserve to have a picnic. Lovely walk back into Goring along the Thames.
