Massively underutilised beach front,could be a great attraction, still a nice place for fishing if ABP stop dredging and the government and the Ministry of agriculture and fisheries put proper fish protection in the solent and rivers. Currently mullet and flounder, smothhounds arnt protected and trawlers go where they like right in front of the coastguard and harbour master, finally we still allow clam boats to drag heavy chains along the bottom destroying coral and marine life.what we can't see gets killed.illigal now all over the world NOT HERE. Read moreThis shingle beach is great for just sitting watch all the ships going in and out of Southampton docks. Bit like a trainspotters Paradies for ships, take your binoculars. The queen mary sailed through when I lived there. I grew up round the corner in upper weston lane and dad sailed racing dinghies (505's) at the sailing club just a bit further up the beach. Just sitting, being at the sea, listening to the shingle in the waves, perfect. If your looking for Mediterranean beach, this is not for you. I adore it myself. Read moreA good place to get back in touch with nature. Fantastic views of industrial heartland of Hampshire with occasional passings of cruise ships. The pebbles crunch satisfactorily under your shoes with every loud step taken on your walk from the car park to the many ice cream trucks and burger stands. Occasional flocks of teenagers set up their bbq stands and drink around the fireplace but the beach remains mostly free of rubbish beyond the occasional shard of glass. The water should probably not be swam in.
